Your Data Migration Process with TradeSchool

📥 This guide outlines what to expect as you transition from your old software to TradeSchool, including how our team supports you throughout the process.

What Is Data Migration?

Data migration is the process of transferring your information from one system to another. Think of it like moving into a new home—you want to make sure everything is packed correctly, transported safely, and organized properly in your new space.

Migration Review Meetings

Migration review meetings are regular check-ins designed to ensure your data is transferred accurately and completely. These sessions take place over** Zoom** and typically happen 2–3 times, though we’ll continue reviews until you’re confident everything looks right.

During these meetings, we will:

  • Review Migration Progress: Discuss what data has been moved, what remains, and where everything lives in TradeSchool.
  • Identify and Fix Issues: Address any missing, misplaced, or incorrect data.
  • Verify Corrections: In each subsequent meeting, we’ll review previous fixes and ensure no additional adjustments are needed.

The goal of these reviews is to make sure all essential data is successfully captured and properly displayed in TradeSchool before you officially switch over.

Cutover -> Transition to TradeSchool

The Cutover marks the point when you stop using your old system and fully transition to TradeSchool. After this date, you’ll begin entering live data into your new system.

Important Notes:

  • Each time we run a new migration before the Cutover, it replaces any manual data entered in TradeSchool.
  • Continue entering and updating information in your current system until the Cutover day.
  • You can use TradeSchool before the Cutover for training or demo purposes—any data entered will be overwritten during the next migration.

We’ll schedule the following with you:

  1. A final copy of your current database.
  2. Your official Cutover day to go live with TradeSchool.
  3. Your initial and any additional onboarding sessions.

Typically, the first two dates are back-to-back so you don’t lose any workdays or data—allowing a smooth transition from one system to the next.

Cutover

The Cutover marks the last day of using your old system, and the first day of using TradeSchool.

Once you start manually entering data into TradeSchool, any future migrations will erase this data. That is why we set a cutover day to mark the final migration.
